| In the last 35 years, I've traveled to all corners of France and eaten my way through most of its provinces. But my heart and my gastronomic compass always guide me back to Provence and to my summer residence.
My first trip to France was to visit the family of my French penpal. Her parents were wine makers (vignerons) in Provence -- the experience was like traveling to another planet! For the first time, I discovered olive oil, garlic, fresh herbs, wines, cheeses, breads, and exotic vegetables. I wanted to emulate a lifestyle where food, wine, and family meals were the most important things and where time and care went into preparing food and eating. |
This special experience sparked my lifelong interest in culinary studies and led to a career as a caterer, teacher, and food writer. I've been fortunate to study with numerous Provençal chefs and cooks. Like them, I enjoy sharing my passion for Provence with others. And like most people, I enjoy inviting guests into my home and cooking with them.
Recently, a friend asked me what I'd want with me if stranded on a desert island. My answer? Gallons of olive oil and tresses of garlic to cook anything I could catch or grow! Oh, and plenty of rosé wine. Tricia Robinson Click here to see Tricia and guests in action! |
